Wear of end ring is to date an unreported and uninvestigated failure that very frequently takes place in deep-well submersible motor pumps. This article first analyses the particularities these induction motors, especially their unusual rotor manufacturing process. Failure mechanism related end-ring wear described, showing several examples damaged rotors a repair shop. Then, difficulties its diagnosis through conventional asymmetry indicators are caused by subtlety this fault easy appearance false negatives. The detection multicomponent approach researched simulation, laboratory results, two-field motors new alarm levels need be defined. To perform last step for time technical literature, two working deep borehole have been continuously monitored (one measure every six operating hours) almost one year.
